The Society of Professors of Education (SPE) is a professional and academic association open to all persons engaged in teacher preparation or related activities. Its purpose is to serve the diverse needs and interests of the education professoriate. The Society’s primary goal is to provide a forum for consideration of major issues, tasks, problems and challenges confronting professional educators. SPE is an interdisciplinary organization. Its members include both theoreticians and practitioners in education. The Society has established several awards to acknowledge the work of distinguished scholars and institutions. These include the Charles DeGarmo Lecture Award, the Mary Anne Raywid Award and the Wisniewski Award.

Because SPE remains a relatively small professional association, it provides many opportunities to meet and work with professors of education, teacher educators and graduate students of education. If you would like to become involved, please contact any of our Officers or Executive Board members. We warmly invite you to become a part of SPE’s history!
